EMIL OTTO HOPPÉ
Curation, Design & Story
The Emil Otto Hoppé Estate connected with us to create a visual experience which presented Hoppé’s photography of India to the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. After experimenting with many different ways to tell this story, it was concluded that the seemingly simple, yet most impactful solution to demonstrating his photographic journey was through a single page web experience. Stripping everything to the bare essentials gave the illusion that Hoppé himself was taking the viewer through his journey. We developed a story adapted from Hoppé’s journal entries and curated the images and text into arranged sections. The simplicity of the design allowed for an accessible and genuine experience for the viewer as they scrolled through the page. The project was highly successful for the client and motivated Remote Studio to seek nimble projects with heavy impacts.
